Organic-based farm practices are manifested throughout the CBE–from the terraces-occupied facade to the edges of the pathways, from small space turned into an urban agricultural prototype to the rainwater catchment. Bio-intensive gardening is a modern form of organic gardening that focuses on rebuilding and maintaining soil fertility through nutrient cycling. It is a usable technique, which aims at diversified cropping and bed preparation on small plots of land with maximum yield. It involves harvesting a diverse range of crop varieties that are less susceptible to pest outbreaks. Center for Bayanihan Economics (CBE) farm in Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm in Angat, Bulacan sustains the excellence in production of organic rice. Handling of rice from harvesting until milling is important as its cultivation stage because it ensures the good quality of rice. CBE’s rice post- harvest production involves threshing, sacking, weighing, drying, storing, transporting, receiving, packing/labeling, and storage.

One of the successful models that uses the Vetiver Grass Technology is the Center for Bayanihan Economics (CBE) Farm, which serves as laboratory for responsible and sustainable agriculture, located at GK Enchanted Farm Barangay Encanto, Angat, Bulacan. The CBE Farm uses this technology to prevent soil erosion, reduced soil and nutrient loss, and help in soil and moisture conservation.
The challenge nowadays is the to address the need to reach the potential yield of agricultural crop production but in so doing, ensure that the nutritive content of the soil is being preserved, if not further enrich, and the quality of the products, safe for human consumption.
